OUR STORY

THE ALCHEMISTS

Years of dreaming and planning led us, Marin and Paolo, to turn our vision into reality when we launched IMAGINE SPIRITS in June 2019. Our dream of owning a "craft" distillery finally came true in Istria.

"We can say that we embarked on this adventure somewhat like sailors sailing towards distant and unknown destinations".

Located a few kilometers from the sea, between the picturesque towns of Vrsar and Rovinj, surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, the distillery is built in accordance with the highest ecological standards.

In our distillation process, fossil fuels are not used, and the majority of the electrical energy is produced by a photovoltaic solar system.

To preserve the aroma and flavours of precious ingredients, we have developed our own distillation process, with double vapour infusion, using a handmade copper pot still.

The distillation process takes place individually in small batches of only 100 bottles. Most of the ingredients we use are local and organic, and we do not use any essences, sugar, artificial colours, or sweeteners in production.

Our gins have been honoured with prestigious awards from renowned competitions such as the Frankfurt Spirits Competition and the World Gin Awards.

THE ARTIST

In the summer of 2023, we came up with the idea for a special black-blue gin and decided to name it after tattoo art.

Inspired to have the label designed by a tattoo artist, we were immediately drawn to the creations of Pietro Sedda.

Upon reaching out to him, our excitement soared when he expressed interest in collaborating. After visiting his incredible studio in Milan, where he unveiled his concept of a Victorian man adorned with tattoos, our admiration for him only grew.

Pietro also suggested using "TATAU" instead of "Tattoo," highlighting the original Polynesian term that later evolved into the English word "Tattoo."

For those unfamiliar with Pietro Sedda, he is a celebrated Italian tattoo artist renowned for his unique style and intricate designs. Hailing from Sardinia, Italy, Sedda's artistic journey began in the early 2000s, marked by his experimentation with various tattooing techniques and styles. His distinctive approach combines meticulous detail with elements of realism and surrealism, drawing inspiration from classical art, surrealism, and nature.

Throughout his illustrious career, Pietro Sedda has garnered widespread recognition and acclaim, earning a reputation as one of Italy's foremost tattoo artists.

His work has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions, showcasing his exceptional talent and contributions to the world of tattoo artistry.
